No other fabric emanates the rich African culture as does the Bogolan.
Bogolan is the West Afican traditional way of painting fabrics, originally used to make clothing for hunters. The fabric is composed of strips of hand woven cotton that are sewn together and then dyed with clay and other natural colourings. Hence the name ‘mud-cloth’ that is also sometimes used to refer to bogolans.
The bogolan fabrics in the Strawberries collection are made in Mali, in Bandiagara, the capital of the Dogon country. The patterns have been designed by traditional craftsmen and are based on folkloric themes.
The fabric is composed of strips of hand woven fabric that are sown together to form a wider fabric.
Bogolan fabrics can be applied both as fabric for clothing as well as for interior decorating.
